STEM School Accreditation Information

STEM School Accreditation

A comprehensive review process for program that includes a highly integrated, sequential, and systematic set of courses where all teachers and administrators are highly qualified. Schools  accredited under STEM School program are those leading to post-secondary tracks that often lead to technical and professional tracks as described in the components below. All STEM School Accreditations requesting Aggie STEM review must include STEM in the program name and be using either (1) high-quality, commercially available curriculum in each of the components  or (2) school made curriculum that is available for review and provided in the initial review dossier for each of the components.

What is a program? A program is the largest most comprehensive institution where there is promotion, certificate, or diploma granted at completion and contained in the program there are components where integrated and system STEM learning takes place in all Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It must be comprised of components which can be accredited either separately or in their entirety, as part of your STEM School, that is mathematics, science, technology, engineering. When STEM schools or STEM institutions are ready they may simply apply for STEM School Accreditation which includes all the STEM programs. A readiness review will help you decide the best course of action wither whole school or individual components.

Readiness Review and Deciding WHEN it is Required

Some Programs Must Undergo a Readiness Review

We require a preliminary Readiness Review from all programs seeking initial accreditation, only if the institution has no currently accredited Aggie STEM programs in that district or system. After a review of this preliminary Readiness Review, we will assist the program leaders in deciding if they are ready to submit a Request for Formal Evaluation (RFE) for that program and which type of accreditation is appropriate. Any school or institution operating as a STEM school for 3 years or more years or having other Aggie STEM Accredited STEM Schools in their district or system may apply directly for the STEM school Final Review.
